About The Artist
Kathy Plank has been working as an artist for over 20 years. After completing a Pre BA foundation course at Epsom school of Art and Design, Kathy went on to successfully complete a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art at Liverpool John Moores University.
Kathy largely works in oils on canvas and her work is inspired by the power, force and colours of nature, ranging from wildlife, seascapes, skyscapes and space. Whilst a student, Kathy developed a passion for the Impressionist and Abstract Expressionist artists. She works to combine the ever-changing beauty of the natural world with an energy of expression to depict the spirit of the force of nature.
“It is far better to capture the glorious spirit of the sea than to paint of it’s tiny ripples.” Jay Meuser
Kathy continues to strive to show the light of nature through the contrasts of colour. Alongside her painting, she also teaches art to adults and young people and runs art workshops. As a practising artist, Kathy is represented by local, national and international galleries and has work privately owned in the UK and overseas.
“In nature, light creates the colour, in the picture, colour creates the light.” Hans Hoffmann
