A tiger steps from the shadows; its gaze fierce and penetrating; every muscle and stripe alive with tension and movement. The darkness around it heightens its presence, making the animal’s colours and form almost luminous against the night.
Through textured brushwork and dynamic strokes, the painting captures both the raw power and silent grace of this magnificent predator, evoking a moment of quiet intensity and primal beauty.

My artwork, predominantly using oil-on-canvas, takes me beyond everyday routine and into a world of boundless creativity, to further develop my artistic eye. I am strongly influenced by nature and wildlife and often focus on vast land and seascapes, whilst my architectural precision and contemporary imagination truly distinguish and define my work.
I am drawn to the restless beauty of seascapes, the quiet poetry of nature, and the spirit of animals. My work seeks to capture movement and colour in their most evocative form. Layers of texture, shifting light, and brushstrokes that carry the pulse of the natural world.
I playfully exaggerate my subjects with the use of vibrant colours and accumulation of layers, creating textured surfaces and a poly-dimensional reality that adds both depth and light to my work instantly setting my work apart.
I have been part of Tadworth Art Group for the past 7 years and have exhibited at Epsom Surrey Art Fair for the past 3 years.
Across the evening sky at Hatchlands Park in Surrey, Nightjars rise into the fading light — beginning their long migration to Africa. Inspired by Fairport Convention’s “Who Knows Where the Time Goes,” this painting reflects the quiet melancholy of departure and the passing of seasons.

I’m Colin, a watercolour painter based in Surrey in the UK.
For the past ten years, I have painted almost exclusively in watercolour, exploring its subtleties and unpredictability. I'm constantly astonished with what can happen with coloured water!
My contemporary, collectible artworks bring character and mood into your home, inviting both contemplation and quiet enjoyment. I paint what moves me, when it moves me, and share it with people who feel something similar.
I explore the landscape searching for ideas, moods, and atmospheres that resonate with me. I particularly like contre-jour or 'against the daylight'. I take many photographs - fragments of light, shapes, or details and combine them with borrowed elements to create paintings that are emotionally true rather than geographically true.
I try to choose titles that give a clue to the idea behind the painting and hopefully trigger discussion.
After this decade, I hope the care and depth of my work show in every painting.
I owe much of my artistic development and showcasing work to local art clubs. Their expertise, experience and encouragement over the years has been absolutely key to finding my 'voice'.
Grateful thanks owed to: Saint Andrew's Goldsworth Park Art Group, Pirbright Art Club, Guildford Art Society , Chobham Art Group and Pirbright Painters.
I also exhibit with Village Artists , a collective of mostly Surrey artists.
It is late afternoon on the Basingstoke Canal in Surrey, England near my home. The boat owner is home, the stove is on. Cosy. Who sees the canal is icing over? Who sees an evening coming in? Inspired by the celebrated English poet Philip Larkin’s poem “Going”.

A walk on the Polesden Lacey Estate in Surrey inspired this landscape. Strong light and dark trees in bright Spring. The estate is chock-full of deadfall – fallen branches and trunks left to provide homes for wildlife.

Inspired by the poem ‘The Trees’ by the celebrated English poet Philip Larkin. The scene is Spring; the track leading down to the Italianate Bridge on the Polesden Lacey Estate in Surrey. The distant light and the dappled shadows are calming and resonate with anyone who goes walking in the woods.
