A September track borders mown fields, bright yet strangely still. Morning haze lifts into fragile sunlight. Where are the birds? Where the snap of twig? The rustle of leaves? Is the day literally breaking?
A lone ash tree stands sentinel, before the light, marking the day’s fragile arrival. Hope flickers like a faulty lamp.
The artwork invites reflection around the delicate balance between hope and doubt; a thoughtful addition to any collection.

I’m Colin, a watercolour painter based in Surrey in the UK.
For the past ten years, I have painted almost exclusively in watercolour, exploring its subtleties and unpredictability. I'm constantly astonished with what can happen with coloured water!
My contemporary, collectible artworks bring character and mood into your home, inviting both contemplation and quiet enjoyment. I paint what moves me, when it moves me, and share it with people who feel something similar.
I explore the landscape searching for ideas, moods, and atmospheres that resonate with me. I particularly like contre-jour or 'against the daylight'. I take many photographs - fragments of light, shapes, or details and combine them with borrowed elements to create paintings that are emotionally true rather than geographically true.
I try to choose titles that give a clue to the idea behind the painting and hopefully trigger discussion.
After this decade, I hope the care and depth of my work show in every painting.
I owe much of my artistic development and showcasing work to local art clubs. Their expertise, experience and encouragement over the years has been absolutely key to finding my 'voice'.
Grateful thanks owed to: Saint Andrew's Goldsworth Park Art Group, Pirbright Art Club, Guildford Art Society , Chobham Art Group and Pirbright Painters.
I also exhibit with Village Artists , a collective of mostly Surrey artists.
It is early Spring on the tranquil Basingstoke Canal in Surrey, England near my home. But where did that gorgeous crazy turquoise sky come from?
It was inspired from watching a televised interview with the celebrated English poet Philip Larkin in a churchyard (he liked exploring churches). I was struck by the artificial colours of the background rendered by the camera lighting.

I have been drawing and painting on and off since childhood. On leaving school I started as a draughtsman in a technical drawing office and worked in the petrochem industry.
My Painting tends toward realism as I believe it tempts a greater scrutiny of the subject, but I try to adapt style according to what suits the subject.
My work is mostly Acrylic and Graphite though I sometimes use Gouache. I like to play with images to throw the eye a little. Again, I think it encorages the viewer to look more closely at the painting and hopefully provokes a response, reaction, thoughts etc.
I have exhibited in London and Surrey, largely at the Mall Gallery, where I won the Debra Manifold Prize in 2019. I have also had work accepted for The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation; The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Lynn Painter Stainers Prize.
Other Exhibitions include :
Visions Gallery in Hersham
Leatherhead Art Club
Ad Lib Gallery
Artsy Gallery Wimbldeon
Albemarle Gallery (RIPW)
The Painters Hall (Lynn Painter Stainers)
