Daniele paints primarily Landscape, Seascape or Animals. He paints in a traditional style and tries to achieve a sense of realism in his works. He is especially interested in effects of light.
He exhibits with 5 art societies and enjoys receiving commissions for painting animals, buildings and trains, as well as his usual landscapes.
Daniele started painting in 2001, and joined his then local art group, Merton Art Society, in 2003. He is now their Exhibition Secretary and received the “Favourite Painting” accolade 5 times at MAS exhibitions between 2007 and 2010.
In 2009, he was commissioned by Network Rail to paint two posters to be used by the company to promote track side safety amongst staff. As a result of this, he was also commissioned to paint Woking Junction for an outgoing Route Director of Wessex Region of Network Rail.
Daniele also won the Jill Seward Memorial Trophy in July 2011 at Frimley and Camberley Society of Arts, for “The People’s Choice” favourite painting.
Britain’s Thriving Local Art Societies – Thousands of enthusiastic painters primed for action.
“Some members, including … Daniele Mandelli, have become lauded personalities in the wider art scene … Daniele’s atmospheric landscapes and woodland scenes attract much attention.
Daniele has been painting since 2001, and joined Merton Art Society two years later. Now the society’s exhibitions secretary, he told us:
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in painting to join, as you will make many new friends, meet other local artists and exhibit your work in twice yearly exhibitions. I even met my wife through the society!”

A self-taught artist with a passion for capturing wildlife in its own habitat, with just as much ease and grace as capturing the beauty of a picture postcard village or country retreat.
With personal vision and an artist’s keen eye Richard paints from his heart and soul. Enjoy.

Born in what was the British Protectorate of Aden in South Yemen in 1955. The love of painting, drawing and the beauty of the written word has dominated my life. My professional career began in corporate design leading to exhibition and interior design, culminating in my own design practice in the early eighties.
The spiritual aspect of humanity is a strong influence in my life, and as a result I entered the Benedictine monastery of Quarr Abbey for several years, where I was introduced to bookbinding and the restoration of books. Since leaving monasticism I have continued to develop fine painting, calligraphy and bookbinding.
The love of blending colour and texture in painting, the use of line in drawing, the beauty of the written word in calligraphy and the three dimensional aspect of bookbinding, bring together elements that compliment each other well.
The majority of my work is through commissions, supported by solo and joint exhibitions.
These include Architectural, Garden, Botanical, Portraiture and General - The selection on this site gives an indication of the varied work of the artist. More can be seen on his two websites (see the links above).
Reference for my work is either from life, photographs or a combination of both, whichever the occasion demands. Often many commissions are gifts and therefore a surprise, or maybe circumstances do not permit, so working with the subject matter is not all ways possible. In such cases a selection of images of the same subject is always a great help.
I use various media; oils, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, inks and pencil (monochrome). I enjoy texture in my work wherever possible along with detail and tend to be traditional in my approach. Commissions for some clients have been strongly impressionist and or using vivid colour allowing freedom in colour and form.
Small prints of Farnham and bird prints for children are available from The Frame Centre in Downing Street, Farnham. A collection of Limited-Edition Orchid Prints is also available. Initially, please go to walshsands.com and then contact me.
I cover all the major disciplines and a range of subject matter. Apart from sessional teaching, I am more than happy to give workshops and demonstrations to groups and societies.

I have been painting in watercolour now for about twenty years. Most of what I have learned has been through observation and tuition at workshops, and through art clubs. I live now in St. Johns Village, not far from the Basingstoke canal, which in itself is an inspiration, offering up endless subjects changing throughout the year.
This gallery is a showcase of some of my watercolour paintings. For a full set see my website. Some of them are recent, and some are not so, but just retained because I like them. Some of them were sold long ago, others are still available. Waterways are a constant favourite, either local or from my travels. There is nothing quite like watercolour for depicting water, however, the gallery does show quite a mix of subjects and as you can see, elephants have fascinated me for some time.
Watercolour is my chosen medium. It can be infuriating, but rewarding when successful. I have come a long way with it, but there is always more to do, so am unlikely to change to another medium. Occasionally I add some ink for a particular effect, otherwise I depend on the purity of watercolour.
Painting is for me a pleasure, and exhibiting is part of the experience. I usually exhibit locally four or five times a year, with regular venues in Guildford and Pirbright.
Sales enquiries are are gladly received. I don't as yet produce prints, maybe I will one day, but so far have only sold originals. I have sent pictures all over the globe, and can go into detail if you want to enquire about any particular painting. At the time of writing this, the paintings which I have sold are widely distributed not only across the UK, but also hang in collections in France, Eire, Spain, Italy, Greece, Holland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
I am always very pleased to receive commissions.

"This is the second website that Chris and Colette from Surrey Artists have designed for me and I am delighted with the result. They put in an amazing amount of work collating a large amount of detail to ensure my paintings are professionally displayed.
The finished website has already attracted a large number of serious enquiries some of which have been converted"
