West Street, Dorking, is renowned for its intriguing collection of antique shops, including the Malthouse Antiques Gallery.
In December 2015, the shop window was decorated for Christmas with a beautiful painting in a shimmering gilt frame, two deer atop marble globes, a white horse beside a pot of flowering poinsettia and glowing spotlights illuminating the display – and the artist just had to capture the scene!

My work has covered a wide range of subjects and styles, including landscape, marine, architectural, portraiture and fantasy, using watercolour, acrylic, gouache, or mixed media. Variety has been an essential part of my work, with equal opportunities for a disciplined study or a creative self-expression.
I now work mainly on art commissions using watercolour or acrylic and would be happy to discuss your specific requirements.
I have exhibited at galleries in London (including the Mall Galleries and Westminster Gallery) and the provinces (including Royal West of England Academy) and received a number of art awards. I have also provided artwork for use in tourism literature, charitable and commercial Christmas cards and building society calendars.
My works have been purchased by art enthusiasts in the Netherlands, USA, France, Spain, Australia and throughout the United Kingdom.
Walk the Downs and one cannot ignore the imposing Grandstand that rises alongside the final furlong of the racecourse which is home to the world-famous Epsom Derby.
Whilst race days may fill the Downs with thundering hooves and enthusiastic racegoers, the rest of the year sees the gently undulating grassland dotted with people taking a walk, exercising their dog, or just enjoying the view. On a clear day, one may get a glimpse of London
landmarks to the north and if one is lucky, as the sun sets in the west, one may catch a stunning sunset illuminating the sky and reflecting on the face of the Grandstand.

Denny Wood is an area of woodland and scrub in the New Forest, Hampshire, located to the north-east of Brockenhurst and south-east of Lyndhurst.
This scene was captured just outside Brockenhurst, not far from the Balmer Lawn Hotel, during a group-organised wagon ride through the Standing Hat Inclosure.
The sun glistened on the bracken whilst a slight haze hung over the canopy of trees.

Boats moored within the upper navigation of Lymington harbour and close to the Ferry crossings to the Isle of Wight. The scene captures a warm summer evening at high tide, with boat reflections shimmering in the water.

Whilst walking the coastal path in Dorset in 2021, I didn’t really have time to stop and sketch (plus I didn’t fancy carrying all my sketch kit over those challenging ups and downs!)
However, I did take some nice phone pics to use for reference, including St Aldhelm’s Chapel on St Aldhelm’s Head – a fascinating building that is over 900 years old and made a great contrast with all the colour of the hedge row flowers…

My mother is an architect and art and creativity were very much part of home life as a child, so perhaps it's not surprising that I knew I wanted to be working in the creative industries from an early age.
I was helped by going to a school with an outstanding art department that encouraged creativity and basic art skills and it seemed completely logical to go on to study graphic design at the University of the Creative Arts in Epsom.
I loved my time there - this was in the days prior to the Mac and as well as the principles of design and design thinking, there was a great deal of 'craft' skill to learn; including drawing and painting, typesetting, artwork creation and much more.
Once released into the real world, I worked in a local graphics studio in Guildford before setting up a design consultancy with a friend in 1989, just as the Macintosh computer and desktop publishing were arriving in the UK.
We were convinced that this would revolutionise the graphic design profession and were one of the first studios to set up completely equipped with Macs. The 30 years that followed have been a roller-coaster ride, with highs and lows aplenty and although now much smaller than in our heyday, we continue to produce commercial graphic and communication design for companies of all sizes.
With that in mind, I decided that I wanted to go back to my roots and have an outlet for my own creativity; something that would allow me to design and create pieces for my personal satisfaction, using both digital and traditional tools.
Currently I work primarily in ink and watercolour, but I'm also experimenting with digital art, linocut and acrylic painting, so my full portfolio is very varied, whilst I work towards finding my own style.
I am a member of Guildford Art Society and Southwold Art Circle.
