This Impasto abstract flower basket painting was completed using only a palette knife. I used very bold and heavy abstract paint so each colour really lifts off the canvas, especially the flower petals, giving an abstract Impasto 3D effect that is lovely to touch as well as to view.
I never paint the same painting twice, so you will have a one-of-a-kind original painting. Why not add a touch of floral artwork to your home or office. It’s also the perfect gift for your loved ones, relatives, and friends.

When I see a canvas, I never get artist's block, I see my next great adventure starting. I'm on a journey without a plan that is constantly evolving. Each brush or palette knife stroke turns into something wonderful that eventually turns into a painting. That Is true art to me, rather than planning every step of the way, but who am I to say?
I am new to painting compared to many other artists and totally self-taught. I never studied at art school and have no art qualifications, but does that make my art unworthy? Can I even call myself an artist? I guess we all have to start somewhere but at least I'm honest enough to admit it and still place great love and passion into every painting I paint.
I have used every painting medium available but found my true love in acrylics. I started painting all sorts of things including trees, waterfalls, fields, sunsets etc. until my wife asked me to paint her a flower painting.
"Paint flowers!" I said, but I gave it a go, and surprisingly my wife was pleased. Since then, I have developed a unique way of painting flowers which I absolutely love. I mix my own heavy-bodied abstract paint and paint Impasto-style impressionist flowers.
I will post free within the UK. If you live outside the UK and wish to purchase my art, please contact me and I will be happy to find out shipping costs for you.

"The Mayor of Reigate loved one of my paintings so much that I donated it to her to have on her office wall. A very proud moment for me!"
This acrylic painting on canvas took me weeks to paint and is a real talking point, especially its size and the pretty colours.
I used an impasto painting style which means that the paint raises above the canvas giving a 3D effect on the flowers which is lovely to touch as well as to view.
It will most certainly brighten up any room or cheer up your office.

In painting, Impasto (Italian for dough) describes highly textured areas of the surface of a painting which are heavily built up with paint layers. Palette knife marks are clearly in evidence. I used very bold and heavy abstract paint so each colour really lifts off the canvas giving a 3D effect that is lovely to touch as well as to view.

Whilst walking the coastal path in Dorset in 2021, I didn’t really have time to stop and sketch (plus I didn’t fancy carrying all my sketch kit over those challenging ups and downs!)
However, I did take some nice phone pics to use for reference, including St Aldhelm’s Chapel on St Aldhelm’s Head – a fascinating building that is over 900 years old and made a great contrast with all the colour of the hedge row flowers…

My mother is an architect and art and creativity were very much part of home life as a child, so perhaps it's not surprising that I knew I wanted to be working in the creative industries from an early age.
I was helped by going to a school with an outstanding art department that encouraged creativity and basic art skills and it seemed completely logical to go on to study graphic design at the University of the Creative Arts in Epsom.
I loved my time there - this was in the days prior to the Mac and as well as the principles of design and design thinking, there was a great deal of 'craft' skill to learn; including drawing and painting, typesetting, artwork creation and much more.
Once released into the real world, I worked in a local graphics studio in Guildford before setting up a design consultancy with a friend in 1989, just as the Macintosh computer and desktop publishing were arriving in the UK.
We were convinced that this would revolutionise the graphic design profession and were one of the first studios to set up completely equipped with Macs. The 30 years that followed have been a roller-coaster ride, with highs and lows aplenty and although now much smaller than in our heyday, we continue to produce commercial graphic and communication design for companies of all sizes.
With that in mind, I decided that I wanted to go back to my roots and have an outlet for my own creativity; something that would allow me to design and create pieces for my personal satisfaction, using both digital and traditional tools.
Currently I work primarily in ink and watercolour, but I'm also experimenting with digital art, linocut and acrylic painting, so my full portfolio is very varied, whilst I work towards finding my own style.
I am a member of Guildford Art Society and Southwold Art Circle.
