Before going to Edinburgh, I attended Life Drawing classes aged 18 at Brighton Art College, taken by an exceptional teacher called Norma. It was here that my passion for life drawing was kindled.
Norma told me to “dedicate my life to art”. Well, this was not to be as I needed then to gain confidence and experience in the rich pageant that is life. Now, with my lovely husband Peter and young daughter Firle I am ready to make more of a statement.
At University, I attended the Art College in Edinburgh and have also joined many art classes in Chelsea, Putney and Manchester. I have even organised my own in various homes along the way. In the 1990’s I spent a wonderful 3 years drawing with the artist Peter Collins in his studio in Chelsea and providing the models too.
I have exhibited with the Putney Artists (1994/1996) Chelsea Artists (1996), in the Edith Grove Gallery in SW10 (1996) and sold privately too. At present, some of my work is on show at 15 Harley Street London.
To date, I have largely painted with gouache and drawn with conte, charcoal, ink and pencil. I am about to try oils, so watch this space.

‘When people ask what is my painting style I find it very hard to answer. I try not to put limitations on what I do…I paint everything from portraits, seascapes, flowers, buildings, landscapes, abstracts. I generally paint with acrylic as it is incredibly versatile and gives a variety of different effects – I can build up layers of paint for a textured effect which works well on abstracts, or the acrylic can be watered down and used like water-colour paint for a softer image…
For me, painting is my ultimate passion; if I couldn’t pick up my brushes and paint, I would go mad!
My main aim is to create beautiful paintings from which people can get never-ending enjoyment. You can never ‘use up’ a painting; it can last forever if you want it to. I get a real buzz from knowing that I can create something especially for someone. Most of my work is commissioned and I am reaching an increasing number of people through exhibitions and through the Internet.’
Kerry can be commissioned to create beautiful portrait paintings from photographs – She is also a professional photographer, so no need to worry if you don’t have a suitable photo as she can take some shots too.
Kerry believes a portrait painting should be informal in order to reflect the characteristics of the subject – her paintings based on photographic reference record relaxed, spontaneous moments that could never be posed – especially with children!
If you would like to find out more, please contact Kerry to book a portrait consultation to discuss possible styles, sizes, colours etc.
Commissioned artwork starts at around £100. Please contact Kerry for more details on 07947 676 360. Email your details to info@kzart.com to join the exhibition mailing list.

I am mostly fascinated by simple things around me. They could hold some sort of meaning or memory for me or it could be just the shape of the object which grabs my attention.
I love playing with colours and I use many different kinds of materials to produce a more textural effect, such as sand and plaster, etc.
I am based in Croydon Surrey and have my studio in Wimbledon Art Studios London, where I exhibit twice a year.

I personally believe that paintings as media share the heart of the painter who wishes to record and leave the moment we encounter through our daily lives.
I hope that I never stop expressing the beauty of nature and humans who struggle to discover the reality of their lives, different from those of yesterday.
It might seem delicate or subtle, but valuable enough to keep through our whole lives. For pursuit of happiness, I think we should even listen to the whispering wind and I believe that every answer is waiting for us, there in nature.

Hildegarde was born on the edge of the Kalahari Desert, Northern Cape Province, South Africa.
She studied Social Science at the University of the Orange Free State, but has always been passionately involved in painting. She came to the UK in the “Sixties”, is married with two children, and lives in Surrey where she teaches and paints in her Studio in Molesey.
Hildegarde is primarily a “Colourist”. Her work is much influenced by her roots and she brings warmth and vibrancy into her paintings where with gay abandon uses colour and paint in a way that has been described as, “delightfully sensual”. Whether tackling cluttered Still Lifes of everyday objects, or landscapes of Southern Africa and Europe, she delights in depicting the effects of light and dark. The “Impressionists” and “Scottish Colourists” have had a major influence on her work. Although mainly an oil painter, Hildegarde also uses watercolour and mixed media.
Of Painting as an activity, she says “No matter how demanding painting can sometimes be, it always fills me with a huge sense of satisfaction and joy. In painting I escape into a World of my own, where I can revel in creating images with colour, shape and form.”
Hildegarde has sold to clients world-wide. Her paintings are represented by Art Galleries in South Africa and London. Her work is regularly exhibited with the Chelsea Art Society, and has been represented at the Affordable Art, and Battersea Art Fairs . In September 2007 she was Guest Artist for “The Family Law in Partnership”, Bedford Chambers, Covent Garden, London, and exhibited in May 2008 hanging at the Royal British Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. One of her works, “Daffodils” was recently auctioned at the Royal Academy on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Research.
Hildegarde undertakes commissions for Still Lifes incorporating client’s colour schemes and precious possessions as well as painting private homes and gardens.
Hildegarde is a member of Molesey Art Society, Chelsea Art Society, Sunbury on Thames Art Society & Thames Valley Art Society and Weybridge Art Society.
