For most of my life I lived in Surrey. I loved painting from a young age (see oil painting, aged 8 below).
I studied at Croydon College of Art from1960-63 and then worked as a graphic designer until 2007, giving one day a week to teaching in Colleges of Art; Hull, Norwich, Epsom, Croydon and Reigate.
I taught drawing and painting to adults at Ruxley Lane, Epsom and also practiced as a portrait photographer. In 2009, I concentrated on fine art, photography and teaching.
I was a member of the Dorking Art Group and I also still tutor a group in Caterham, where I was born. Now I have moved to Biggin Hill in Kent, just a few yards from Tatsfield.
I paint landscape, portrait, still life; telling a story or expressing an emotion, emphasising light, tone and colour.
I work in a varied style, but mostly "post-impresssionist", or "academic" rendering.
I work both in my studio or 'en plein air'.
Some are born with a natural talent, (for instance Picasso could draw beautifully at age 7); that applies in all walks of life. However, drawing and painting is often not well taught! My structured methods can bring out the best in any budding artist.
Examples of portraits are included in my portfolio on this Surrey Artists website. If you are interested in having a portrait painted, please contact me with your commission enquiry.

'An Alternative View'
Based in Guildford, Surrey, Sue is a quirky travel photographer. Her images reflect her passion for travel and photography, capturing the simple beauty and juxtapositions of people, landscapes and architecture.
Using mirrorless cameras, one of which is converted for infrared photography, Sue's contemporary images are printed directly onto aluminium or onto quality photographic paper.
The direct prints onto aluminium, provide a matte, glare-free finish with an edge-to-edge contemporary style. They are light, colour and water resistant, which makes these photographs suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and even sheltered outdoor areas.
"Exhibiting mainly in Surrey and London, I especially enjoy working in the galleries, meeting art lovers and appreciating the warm response and interest in my travel photography."
Sue has the following collections which can be viewed on her website:
London; Rural Italy; Venice; Coast; Flowers and Trees; Architecture; Photo Fringe 2020; Best Sellers and New Releases.

Elisabeth began painting in 1999, attending weekly classes for nearly five years, led by a professional artist.
She works mostly in acrylics and mixed media, with special emphasis on light and using vibrant colours as well as interesting textures, so creating vivid movement in her paintings.
Her favourite subjects are flowing landscapes in all seasons and strong seascapes.
Elisabeth is represented by the Francis Iles Gallery and through them has had her work successfully exhibited at the prestigious Affordable Art Fair in London.
Elisabeth is a member of various Art Societies, with whom she exhibits regularly, amongst them Guildford and Woking Art Societies, West Surrey Artists, as well as Lloyd’s of London Art Group. She has won several awards for her paintings.
Elisabeth’s work has been shown within the Society of Women Artists (SWA) exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London on various occasions.

Born in 1952, I come from a long line of artists and can trace my ancestry back to Richard Wilson, the well-known 18th century English “romantic” painter. I studied at the City of London Polytechnic and the Wimbledon School of Art before embarking on a career as freelance artist and illustrator.
In addition to book-jacket illustration, I have produced work for television, films and museums, and have painted murals for commercial companies, and more recently, as a Lecturer in Art and Design.
My first love, however, has always been landscape painting. Capturing the effects of lighting and atmosphere, enables me to turn simple objects into the magical, always with the intention to convey the very essence of the subject, rather than just merely state the obvious.
Work has been exhibited in various galleries in London and the South East.
