Alan Brain discovered painting about twelve years ago when he attended a water colouring class with some friends. It led to a change of direction that he has never regretted. Today, his unique style, combined with spiritual awareness, produces works of unusual vibrancy and colour. As a former pilot and constant flyer, the immensity of the heavens with its changing moods has fascinated Alan. It features in many of his paintings where he manages to capture the vastness and mysteriousness of space.
His early years in Japan may have enhanced his bold view of landscapes and skies and you can see in his work the influence of wonderful open spaces to be found in places such as Wales, Arizona, New Mexico and Africa, all of which Alan visits regularly. However, such harmony with nature cannot be taught, it is an intrinsic part of the artist that we are fortunate to glimpse.
Alan exhibits several times a year in and around his home in Chobham Surrey, England. His work has been accepted for several prestigious exhibitions in London, including the Guild of Aviation Artists and the Society of Marine Artists. Alan also applies his teaching skills (he was a Flying Instructor) and helps his fellow artists through his course called ‘Find You Own Painting Direction’ and by one to one tuition. He believes it is important to give something back to those less fortunate than ourselves and is a strong supporter of the Samaritans charity; a percentage from his painting sales are contributed to his local branch.

‘‘The Waiting Room’ was my first oil painting. It represents the relationship between father and son and a reminiscence of childhood, something that I feel and I’m only 21.
The models are father and son, Dave and Jack Gooderidge and to this day I think they got it just right. The subtle intimacy in their pose is a credit to the success of this painting.’

Will’s main reason for becoming an artist is from a passion for creativity.
“There is rarely any strong meaning or message behind my work – narrative takes a large role because I like the work to be emotive through what is being portrayed, but creativity is the driving force behind all of my paintings”
From 2008 to 2010 Will Rochfort worked as an Official Artist for the 2012 London Olympics, working with Olympic Gold Medalists, producing paintings in support of the Games and its associated charities.
As well as completing several portrait commissions, Will Rochfort is always searching for new ideas for paintings and usually finds this in books or cinema. With influences ranging from Degas to Rockwell, to the films of Steven Spielberg, it is narrative that really interests Will and he always aims to have a story within his work.
“I am a very visual painter and with the public being my target audience over the art establishment, I always aim to depict scenes that, through the characters portrayed, I hope people can relate to and enjoy”

Working in pastel pencils, particularly the Carbothello brand, I strive to capture the personality and mood of my subject, harnessing the pencils' capacity for high detail and their silky texture in creating a realistic fur effect and expressive liquid eyes which have become the trademark of my work.
I work under the name of Dapplegrey Art to highlight my love of animals, with a particular bias towards horses.
More recently, I have begun undertaking children's' portraits as well. Many of my stock pictures are taken from imagination and with the addition of a touch of quirky humour here, a pinch of fantasy there and a large helping of mischief thrown in, the aim is to build a highly stylised and unusual gallery.
I am a member of Frimley and Camberley Society of Arts and I have prints on sale in various outlets in Camberley. I am an occasional demonstrator, a regular on the Isle of Wight art and craft fayre scene and have sent commissions as far afield as Australia and India.

Heidi recently drew a portrait of her sister’s son, Jonte. From seeing this, friends asked her to do portraits of their children and this led to portraits of their pets.
Heidi studied as a florist at the Welsh College of Horticulture and from there she went to London and worked as a freelance floral decorator for 10 years.
Since having children, that life has come to an end and now, with both children at school, she is working as a successful, full-time animal and portrait artist.
