About The Artist

I have been an artist most of my life. I was trained at Bournemouth College of Art and Design and have since developed a keen eye for detail and use of colour.

My work has covered a wide range of subjects and styles, including landscape, marine, architectural, portraiture and fantasy, using watercolour, acrylic, gouache, or mixed media.  Variety has been an essential part of my work, with equal opportunities for a disciplined study or a creative self-expression.

I now work mainly on art commissions using watercolour or acrylic and would be happy to discuss your specific requirements.

About The Artist

“Drama, Atmosphere and Movement”

Anne creates vividly expressive landscape paintings, inspired by the Surrey Hills. Her work is about capturing drama, atmosphere and movement and is characterised by gorgeous colours, free energetic and loosely-layered brushwork and gestural mark making. She loves to experiment with drips, splashes and distorted lines because these enable her to be bold and expressive.

She grew up among the terraced houses, slate roofs and mill chimneys of a northern mill town, surrounded by wild hills, becks and moors. An only child, she taught herself to draw by copying Disney characters and her dad’s Lancashire art shop was an ‘Aladdin’s Cave’. Fifty years later and having lived in Teddington, New York and California, the gently rolling hills, heathland, vineyards and wooded countryside of the North Downs have replaced the dry stone walls, moors and ‘dark satanic mills’ of her youth. Lanes, tracks, telegraph wires and undulating fields now inspire her to sketch lines and shapes, which gradually evolve into finished compositions.

That love of the majestic countryside of her northern roots is still with her, along with a sense of ‘theatre’ which she now realises grew out of her background as a young dancer and pianist. These early experiences resonate in her paintings now. Being in a landscape she feels calm, relaxed, yet alive and free and that’s how she feels when she paints.

After graduating in Fine Art at Reading University in 1984 she pursued a career in Education, primarily in music and completed an MEd in Creative Arts at Exeter University.

Over the years, Anne's work has been exhibited, commissioned and bought by collectors in the UK and USA. Retirement from her last post in an International school has enabled her to focus fully on painting.

She has recently featured in Homes and Gardens magazine, exhibited at Denbies Vineyard, High Clandon Vineyard and participated in Surrey Artists’ Open Studios. Anne is a member of Leatherhead Art Club and Horsley and Clandon Society of Arts.

About The Artist

I was born in Fontainebleau, France and I have lived in Surrey for almost 30 years.

After passing my Baccalaureat specialising in Art and History of Art I went on to do a foundation course in the Ateliers de Sevres, Paris, followed by a course in Fine Art at Olivier de Serres Art School, Paris.

As a portrait artist I have exhibited on several occasions at the National Portrait Gallery, as part of the BP Portrait Award Exhibition. I have also exhibited in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters Exhibition, the Academie Jacques Boitiat, Barbizon, France, Guildford Arts Exhibition at the Mill Studio and the
Lightbox in Woking.

I am currently running a Gallery in Swan Lane, Guildford with 7 other artists ,where you can see some of my work.

I specialise in highly-detailed portrait paintings. My portraits, from children to celebrities, musicians and Vice-Chancellors are recognised for their incredible likeness. My artistic style can also be applied to pet portraits, capturing the personality of your favourite animal.

Nathalie Scott Guildford Portrait Artist and Tutor

Guildford Mural and Portrait Artist Nathalie Scott

All my portraits are created with several thin layers of oil on canvas. I work mainly from photographs that I like to take myself but can work from photographs given to me if they are clear enough. Ideally I will meet my sitters a few times to be able to connect with them and capture their personalities in the portrait. I feel a portrait is timeless. It is about capturing the essence of a person. A portrait is a piece of Art that is uniquely yours and can be transmitted through generations. It can also be a wonderful present for your loved ones.

As a mural artist, I have been getting many commissions all around Surrey in schools, bars, hospitals and houses. See below for further information about murals.

I also offer Portrait Workshops and Private Tuition.

For further examples of my work please visit my website and feel free to get in touch for a friendly chat about commissioning a portrait or a mural.

About The Artist

Sadly, Noël Haring passed away in August 2008. As a memory of his talent, his excellent work (both original paintings and Limited Edition Fine Art Prints), continue to be available for sale. Please contact us via email.

Having graduated in Design from The Royal College of Art in 1957, Noël Haring started his own industrial and graphic design business. He saw a turning point in his artistic career when a friend introduced him to working in watercolour.

Noël Haring exhibited at The Royal Watercolour Society Summer Exhibition from 1992 and all major exhibitions at the Mall Galleries (Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Royal Society of Portrait Artists, Royal Society of Marine Artists) including the most prestigious one: The Singer and Friedlander /Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.

In 1997, HRH The Prince of Wales selected all the paintings Noël submitted for The Discerning Eye Exhibition.
In 2000 Noël Haring was a prize winner at the Singer and Friedlander/ Sunday Times competition, with his picture “Classic Car in Havana”.

"His meticulously observed watercolour of a dilapidated colonial-style building bathed in brilliant sunlight, with a well-preserved old banger parked on a road outside, is a considerable achievement, not least because it gives not a hint of how complicated it was to get it to look natural”.

Dr Frank Whitford, Art Editor of The Sunday Times

In November 2005, a new Prize Exhibition organised by the Lynn Foundation together with the Painter-Stainers Company gave Noël an opportunity to once again show his talent. His picture “Morning in Brighton” was one of the 12 selected watercolours among the 53 works of mix media accepted out of more than 700 pictures submitted.
