About The Artist

For most of my life I lived in Surrey. I loved painting from a young age (see oil painting, aged 8 below).

I studied at Croydon College of Art from1960-63 and then worked as a graphic designer until 2007, giving one day a week to teaching in Colleges of Art; Hull, Norwich, Epsom, Croydon and Reigate.

I taught drawing and painting to adults at Ruxley Lane, Epsom and also practiced as a portrait photographer. In 2009, I concentrated on fine art, photography and teaching.

I was a member of the Dorking Art Group and I also still tutor a group in Caterham, where I was born. Now I have moved to Biggin Hill in Kent, just a few yards from Tatsfield.

I paint landscape, portrait, still life; telling a story or expressing an emotion, emphasising light, tone and colour.

I work in a varied style, but mostly "post-impresssionist", or "academic" rendering.

I work both in my studio or 'en plein air'.

  • Won Best Professional Still Life in SAA Artists of the Year 2020
  • Bronze Frame in the ArtisTTable still life competition "Be Still"
  • Awarded Certificate of Excellence by ArtaVita for their annual competition and invited to hang work in New York
  • Shortlisted for the Pastel Society exhibition in the Mall Galleries
  • Won a Special Recognition Award for the 10th Annual Landscapes Online" in 2020

Art Tutor

Some are born with a natural talent, (for instance Picasso could draw beautifully at age 7); that applies in all walks of life. However, drawing and painting is often not well taught! My structured methods can bring out the best in any budding artist.

About The Artist

Yana's art reflects her passion for nature; she loves creating the beauty of nature that attracts her attention on to the canvas using acrylic and watercolour. She also enjoys painting portraits, animals, various landscapes, flowers and trees.

Yana has always enjoyed drawing and painting. As a child growing up in Russia (b.1979) she was always drawing, but her parents were academics and didn't see art as a profession, so they sent her to accounting school! Thus, her love of drawing was put to one side for many years.

In 2008 Yana moved with her husband to settle in the UK with her young family. She found much pleasure drawing with the children just for fun. The family then moved to Saudi in 2014 and it was there that Yana began to paint. She was invited to join a drawing and painting course and meet fellow artists who encouraged her to paint and share her talents and work. Yana was fortunate enough to be taught by the internationally recognised artist Naima Karim who has exhibited worldwide, and American artist Tomas Rodriguez.

Sand Dunes - Surrey Artists Gallery - Yana Linch
Some of Yana's landscapes capture the vastness and beauty of the sand dunes of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Since returning to the UK in 2018, Yana has been busy painting, including some stunning lavender fields and beautiful poppies, but she hasn't forgotten her Russian heritage and often paints unique Russian Dolls, all with individual characters and charm.

Sip and Paint Parties - In Woking Garden Studio / At Client's Venue

Sip and Paint Parties will be available at my brand new garden studio from mid July 2022,  or alternatively I can travel to offer Sip and Paint in client's gardens.

The cost per person is £35. Maximum of 10 people.

The price includes;

  • All art materials, aprons, easel, etc.
  • Glass of prosecco/ wine / Gin & Tonic at the client's request
  • Nibbles
  • Teas and coffee.

For Afternoon Tea Sip and Paint:

  • Tea and coffee
  • Platter of cakes and sandwiches
  • Glass of prosecco.

'An Alternative View'

Based in Guildford, Surrey, Sue is a quirky travel photographer. Her images reflect her passion for travel and photography, capturing the simple beauty and juxtapositions of people, landscapes and architecture.

Using mirrorless cameras, one of which is converted for infrared photography, Sue's contemporary images are printed directly onto aluminium or onto quality photographic paper.

The direct prints onto aluminium, provide a matte, glare-free finish with an edge-to-edge contemporary style. They are light, colour and water resistant, which makes these photographs suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and even sheltered outdoor areas.
